Postdoc Position in Structural Biology: Cryo-EM, X-ray Crystallography Full-time NEW
Position Overview
The laboratory of Dr. Jiaoyang Jiang at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (UW–Madison) invites applications for a fully funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position in structural biology. The successful candidate will lead structural studies using cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and complementary integrative approaches to investigate protein complexes involved in glycosylation-related biology and disease. The candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to structure-based and AI-assisted drug discovery projects.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a highly collaborative environment that brings together structural biologists, chemical biologists, cell biologists, and other interdisciplinary investigators. The goal is to connect structural discoveries with biological functions and molecular mechanisms. These collaborations may also provide opportunities to translate structural insights into chemical probes and potential therapeutic strategies. The position therefore offers broad training in advanced structural biology and in the application of structural discoveries to mechanistic studies, chemical probe development, and translational research.
In addition to resources within the laboratory, the successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including the on-campus Cryo-EM Research Center (https://cryoem.wisc.edu/), which provides advanced instrumentation and additional technical and computational support.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related field
• Preference for candidates with no more than one year of prior postdoctoral experience
• Strong motivation and demonstrated research experience in protein expression and purification
• Experience with at least one structural biology technique, such as cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography
• At least one first-author research article published in a peer-reviewed international journal
• Ability to conduct research independently and contribute effectively to a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment
