Associate Professor of Register-based Psychiatric and Environmental Epidemiology

The Department of Public Health at Faculty of Health Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in the field of Register-based Psychiatric and Environmental Epidemiology as per 1 January 2027. The position is a fulltime and 3-year fixed-term position.

As an Associate Professor of Register-based Psychiatric and Environmental Epidemiology at NCRR, you will contribute to the department's research and teaching environment and to the faculty's overall research strategy. You will contribute to the development of NCRR and the Department of Public Health both individually and in collaboration with others via your research of high international quality. You are expected to conduct research at a high international level and to develop an independent academic profile through both individual scholarship and collaboration with colleagues. You are committed to delivering high-quality teaching/supervision and bring collaborative skills and intellect into play in your contribution to the academic development of Aarhus University and its profile both nationally and internationally.

Your main tasks will consist of:

• Research of high international quality, including publication in top international journals and communicating your research in national and international academic networks.
• Leading and conducting high-quality register-based studies on mental health using Danish nationwide registries, residential histories, environmental exposure data, health-related surveys and genetic data.
• Contributing to studies examining comorbidities, and social, environmental and familial factors in mental health.
• To contribute to the funding with the help of external research funding.
• Teaching and supervising students at the Bachelor's and Master's level and supervision of PhD students
• Involvement in assessment and committee work at Aarhus University.
• Dissemination of your research to the outside world.

You have established yourself as a prominent researcher within register-based epidemiology, psychiatric epidemiology, environmental epidemiology or a closely related field, and you possess documented solid research qualifications at a high international level.

We expect you to have:

• A PhD degree and a strong record of independent epidemiological research.
• Substantial experience with population-based register research and the analysis of large-scale longitudinal data.
• Strong methodological expertise in epidemiology and statistical analysis, with experience relevant to survival, multilevel or longitudinal analyses.
• Experience working with health, socioeconomic, genetic, environmental or spatial data.
• A strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals and a demonstrated ability to develop research questions into completed studies.
• Solid experience with Stata, R, SAS or comparable statistical software.
• Experience with national or international research collaboration.

We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English. International applicants are expected to learn Danish, and Aarhus University arranges Danish teaching.
