The Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in Biomedical Data Science at the ranks of Associate Professor and Professor. Candidates seeking to apply at the Assistant Professor rank should refer to apply.interfolio.com/177042. We seek exceptional candidates whose research lies at the interface of artificial intelligence, data science, and biomedical engineering, and who will strengthen and expand our core expertise in biomedical data science.
Areas of particular interest include but are not limited to algorithms for large-scale biomedical data analysis, computational biomedical imaging, computational omics, foundation models, biomarker discovery, data-driven methods in regenerative medicine, computational hypothesis generation, causal and statistical inference for biomedical systems, and large language or sequence modeling in biomedical problems.
Successful candidates will have a record of excellence in developing and applying innovative AI and machine learning methods that yield new insights or solutions to challenges in medicine and healthcare, epidemiology, or public health. Our search supports the large-scale expansion of the Whiting School of Engineering, which builds on our 22 tenure-track faculty hires in AI last year to add to a total of 150 new tenure-track professors at all ranks, including 30 Bloomberg Distinguished Professorships and 80 faculty positions that will be part of the new Data Science and AI Institute. This expansion includes new buildings and extensive computational resources that will establish Johns Hopkins as one of the largest and leading engineering schools with a top AI research program. The expansion will support the department, ranked #1 in the nation, in growing its biomedical data science focus area.
The Department is conducting a broad search and is committed to identifying candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the excellence of the academic community. We welcome candidates who are poised to address grand challenges in biomedical data science and can work across disciplines to solve societal challenges.
