Join a highly collaborative and world-class research environment at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, where you will play a pivotal role in enabling scientific discovery. As Floor Manager, you will lead the operational excellence of shared laboratory spaces, ensuring researchers have access to state-of-the-art facilities, resources, and support. Working at the heart of a dynamic and inquisitive research community, you will coordinate infrastructure, champion safety, and drive continuous improvement across laboratory operations to support impactful and innovative research outcomes. This is a face-to-face role and involves participation in an after-hours call-out roster.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the management of shared laboratory equipment and facilities, including procurement, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and user training
• Coordinate laboratory space, infrastructure, and resource allocation to support evolving research needs and complex equipment installations, including hands on support for hazardous chemicals management
• Ensure compliance with WHS, OGTR, and Biosecurity requirements, and provide expert advice and training to staff and students in our research chemistry laboratories
• Deliver operational and project management oversight for equipment, laboratory processes, and continuous improvement initiatives

About You:

• A Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline, with relevant research laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience
• Demonstrated experience operating within a reactive chemistry or related research laboratory environment, with strong technical knowledge of chemistry laboratory processes, hazardous chemical management, and equipment such as HPLC, NMR, CD spectrometry, or other chemistry-related systems
• Sound understanding of WHS, OGTR, and Biosecurity requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply legislative and policy frameworks, particularly with respect to chemical management
• Proven experience managing chemistry laboratory operations, equipment, and shared resources, ideally within a complex or multidisciplinary research setting
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, students, technical staff, and external partners
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes
• Demonstrated commitment to high-quality client service and enthusiastic research support
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver training and guidance to diverse audiences
