Position Description
Classification: Professional, Executive Terms: Full-time, Fixed-term (5 years)
The future for ANU is focusing on our distinctive national mission, remarkable legacy, vibrant culture and tremendous assets. Across our integrated research and innovation, education and engagement missions, the University is focused on achieving excellence in all that we do, in service to our nation.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Information Officer will play a crucial role during a pivotal time of transformation across the University. This is an exciting opportunity for an established strategic leader to drive innovation, enhance operational efficiencies, and shape the future of Information Technology and Information Security at one of Australia's leading universities.
As CIO, you will oversee the development and execution of the ITS strategy and objectives driving a shift towards a unified, efficient IT framework across ANU. A key dimension of the role is providing strategic leadership in the adoption and governance of artificial intelligence—shaping the University's AI vision, embedding responsible and secure AI capabilities into core business environments, and ensuring these technologies enhance decision making, service delivery, and operational performance. The role works in close collaboration with the ANU University Executive Committee and senior managers across the University.
This role is a unique opportunity for an outstanding leader with exceptional experience in strategic IT management, with a proven track record of delivering impactful, large-scale IT transformations.
A Canberra base for our CIO is preferred to support collaboration with key stakeholders. However, it is not essential for the right candidate.
