Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) is part of the Medical Sciences Division and is the largest European academic department in its field, running a globally competitive programme of research and teaching.The Kennedy Institute is a biomedical research centre uniquely bringing together discovery science and early-stage clinical research, to develop transformative new therapies for chronic inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions.The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre's Inflammation Across Tissues (IAT) theme is transforming experimental medicine in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. By using basket trial designs and pathology-based outcomes, the programme aims to generate early proof-of-biology decisions and move beyond traditional organ-based approaches towards a cell- and pathway-focused model of inflammatory disease.This post will support the Rheumatology workstream within the IAT, with a particular focus on synovial biopsy-driven clinical studies, as well as contributing to the Wellcome Pain Consortium, a collaboration between King's College London and Oxford.

About the RoleIn this role, you will participate in ongoing clinical research with a focus on supporting Rheumatology within the multidisciplinary Inflammation Across Tissues team to deliver the strategic aims of the group and the delivery of the trial portfolio of studies according to time and target. You will be responsible for the identification and recruitment of patients to clinical trials liaising within the Rheumatology department and other NHS departments to ensure a seamless service. You will provide support and advice to patients in the trial acting in the best interests of trial participants according to the requirements of ICH GCP. You will also assist with clinical analysis of trial data, presenting results as a verbal presentation or written report and assist with maintenance of complete, accurate and organised study files.
About YouYou must hold an undergraduate degree with honours in Medicine as well as a full registration (and a current licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC). Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) is essential. You must have experience of clinical service delivery in a Rheumatology Unit based in the UK. You should be able to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development in Rheumatology, alongside excellent organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly and autonomously and contribute to / manage multiple projects at various stages of development and organisation.
