The postholder will play a key role in supporting OTMC's portfolio of translational and pre-clinical research studies, including next-generation single cell and spatial transcriptomic, epigenomic and proteomic data generation, biomarker sample collection, and computational analysis, with a particular focus on the bone marrow microenvironment and stromal cell biology in myeloma.

The Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre (OTMC) is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Research Fellow to join its dynamic and expanding programme of translational research in myeloma in the group of Professor Oppermann. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with myeloma and related plasma cell disorders. In this role you will contribute actively to the conduct, and delivery of high-quality translational myeloma research in collaboration with clinical, academic, and industry partners. You will participate in and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, trial clinics, and service development, particularly in the delivery of advanced therapies. You will be responsible for identifying and undertaking a translational research project under the supervision of a senior academic mentor as well as conduct experimental studies such as single-cell and spatial data generation using a suite of experimental approaches including transcriptomic, genomic and proteomic assays.
You will hold an undergraduate degree with honours in medicine and have a full registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) with evidence of some sub-specialty training in Haematology. You will also hold a PhD with focus on inflammatory, degenerative or malignant disorders. You will currently hold a core clinical training post or equivalent and have experience of clinical haematology and working on related clinical audits. You will have experience in primary cell culture and functional assays, including handling of patient-derived material together with experience in next generation sequencing platforms (e.g. single cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics) and proficiency in bioinformatic analysis. Experience of cross-institutional collaboration with leading academic and industry groups as well as a track record of competitive externally-funded research fellowships and international conference presentations are desirable.
