The Department of Biology in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate Professor (tenured). We are seeking candidates in all areas of neuroscience, including plasticity, development, genetics, and aging. We welcome work in any organism or system, including computational modeling, cell-based models, and non-model species. Interdisciplinary research that can interface with ongoing research in the Department of Biology, as well as other departments on campus, is strongly encouraged.
Founded in 1876 with the university, the Department of Biology is home to 27 research laboratories studying a wide range of biological processes from the molecular to the population level. The Biology Department is part of a vibrant neuroscience community at Johns Hopkins, including the Solomon H. Snyder Department of Neuroscience, the Psychological and Brain Sciences department, the Krieger Mind/Brain Institute, Brain Science Institute, Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences, and the Neurogenetics and Behavior Center. In addition to this, collaborations among neuroscientists, engineers, and computer scientists, catalyzed by the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute, exploit machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze large data sets.
Applicants should hold a current faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, and are expected to have a vibrant research program, with a strong funding and publication record. Responsibilities include teaching and mentoring, and contributing to service. This search is part of a broader initiative, with information about the additional searches to be posted soon on the department website.
