Lab Manager – Molecular Immunology

We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Manager/Senior Scientist to join the Molecular Mucosal Immunology group at Oxford. The Molecular Mucosal Immunology laboratory works to understand the complex relationship between intestinal bacteria and the immune system, in both directions. We work in human, murine and in vitro systems, and with a broad range of techniques including bacterial genetics, infection models, synthetic biology, omics, glycobiology, quantitative imaging and flow cytometry.

We are looking for a lab manager who is passionate about supporting a diverse and energetic team. You will be central to the smooth running of the research group, providing day-to-day support for practical work as well as managing lab documentation, biosafety level II and in vivo models experimentation across research facilities in Oxford. An exciting aspect of the group is that we operate together with the Botnar Institute for Immune Engineering in Basel, and another key aspect of the job will be coordinating between the main research sites. There is also the possibility to be directly involved in research projects, both in designing and performing experiments and in coordinating larger translational projects.

The post-holder will have a high degree of autonomy to bring their flare for organization and social coordination into the Oxford branch of the Molecular Mucosal Immunology group. Experience in animal work in the UK, and with biological research at biosafety level II and above is essential. Experience in molecular biology/biochemistry and/or immunology and with working in a collaborative international research environment is desirable. We are looking for someone with the ability to work well with a wide range of people and personalities, who enjoys communicating within and across departments and organizations, who likes to take the lead in complex decisions, and who is able to get the best out of a team.

The post is funded via the Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering, initially for the fixed term of two years, with the option to extend if successful.
