Your mission

We are seeking an ambitious, responsible, and collaborative colleague who is passionate about education, entrepreneurship, and communication in the life science sector. You have an open-minded approach to your work and thrive in an international and interdisciplinary academic environment.

As a Lecturer, you will primarily teach communication and public engagement courses at the master's as well as graduate level. As a member of the UBE faculty, you will also contribute to other courses and educational activities, as well as coordinate projects across the unit.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning courses, including designing relevant learning activities and engaging guest speakers
• Delivering teaching and facilitating learning activities
• Assessing and grading student assignments and examinations
• Evaluating courses and managing course administration, reporting, and documentation
• Actively contributing to the research and development of the Unit for Bioentrepreneurship and its activities

Your profile

Appointment to the position of Lecturer requires demonstrated pedagogical skills and at least a Master's degree or the possession of other professional expertise relevant to the subject area of the position and the duties included in the appointment.

Bases of assessment

For employment as Lecturer at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria stated in the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure are applied in relation to established profile of employment.

It is particularly meritorious that you have demonstrated

• at least 5 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education as indicated in the recommendations from the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions.
• experience of developing, coordinating, and teaching courses of high quality at graduate and post-graduate level
• experience of teaching graduate and post graduate courses in English in entrepreneurship and/or science communication
• Practical experience of working with communication and public engagement in both national and international contexts
• Excellent proficiency in both Swedish and English, spoken and written

It is meritorious that you have demonstrated

• Experience of planning and delivering courses at Karolinska Institutet

When appointing a Lecturer, particular emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skills.

As this role involves extensive interaction with students, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You are well-organised, collaborative, and capable of building constructive relationships with colleagues and students alike. You are also able to take initiative, manage projects independently, and perform effectively under time pressure, including in situations with limited guidance or rapidly changing priorities.
