The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is seeking an outstanding academic to join our team as a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C). This exciting opportunity is suited to a researcher with expertise in thin film magnetic materials, quantum materials, or closely related disciplines who is passionate about advancing research and delivering high-quality teaching.
The successful candidate will develop and lead an innovative research program in the areas of thin film magnetic and quantum materials while contributing to teaching across the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing and delivering curriculum relevant to these emerging and rapidly evolving fields.
At Senior Lecturer the appointee will be expected to make significant contributions to teaching, research, scholarship and professional activities, while leading new areas of research and teaching within the department.
At Lecturer the appointee will contribute to the teaching and research activities of the department and establish an independent research profile aligned with departmental priorities.
Key responsibilities include developing a research program in thin film magnetic materials, quantum materials, or related fields; securing research funding, publishing high-impact research, and building national and international collaborations; contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and student supervision; and supporting academic leadership, engagement, and service activities appropriate to career stage.
About you: PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline; strong research track record in thin film magnetic materials, quantum materials, or related areas; demonstrated ability or potential to attract research funding and establish collaborations; commitment to teaching excellence, student engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
