Postdoc Position-Gu Lab @ NIH: Spatial Navigation and Memory Full-time

Position Description:

Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Yi Gu in the Spatial Navigation and Memory Unit at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), NIH.

The Gu laboratory investigates the neural basis of spatial navigation and memory, with the long-term goal of uncovering fundamental principles of spatial cognition and mechanisms underlying related neurological disorders. Using mice as model organisms, the lab integrates multidisciplinary approaches, including in vivo two-photon imaging, optogenetics, spatial navigation behavioral paradigms, computational data analysis, and theoretical modeling.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications and follow NIH intramural research training guidelines.

Qualifications:

We seek highly motivated postdoctoral candidates who hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field and have strong research training in systems or circuit neuroscience.

Preferred (but not required) expertise includes:

• In vivo imaging and/or electrophysiology
• Rodent surgery and behavioral assays
• Computational data analysis (MATLAB and/or Python preferred)
• Theoretical and computational modeling
• Transcriptomics and related analytical approaches

Applicants should have at least one first-author research publication in neuroscience and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Successful candidates are expected to conduct independent research while contributing collaboratively to a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment.
