UCL and NHS England London invite applications for an NIHR-funded Academic Clinical Lecturer (CL) post in Respiratory Medicine, based at a UK clinical site with the research component hosted at UCL Respiratory Medicine Department. One post is available.

Eligibility: This post is for the trainees who have completed a relevant higher degree that is PhD or MD (original research). You must have submitted your thesis by the time of application and been awarded your higher degree by the post start date. Entry grade rules: Appointments are made strictly at the grade held at post start date. Trainees may not repeat training or start at a lower or non-advertised grade.
For ST4 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Respiratory Medicine and must be ST4 at post start date or must complete a separate standard clinical application to Respiratory Medicine ST4 national recruitment (called Clinical Benchmarking) and attend an assessment/interview for Respiratory Medicine in 2026 and be found appointable.
For ST5 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Respiratory Medicine and must be ST5 at post start date.
For ST6 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Respiratory Medicine and must be ST6 at post start date.
Person specifications: Please note there are two person specifications relevant to this post; the NIHR supplementary person specification (available below on this page) and the matched National Specialty Person Specification which can be found via the NHSE Medical Specialty Training Website – Person Specifications. All essential criteria and competencies must be clearly evidenced in the application.
Research approaches within UCL Respiratory cover the full range from basic science and computational biology through to clinical cohorts, interventional studies and large-scale data science projects. The diversity of disease areas and research approaches ensures UCL Respiratory can accommodate a wide range of research interests.
Clinical lecturers will join the North East Thames Respiratory Training programme. Clinical training in respiratory and general internal medicine will be undertaken within one of the hospitals in the North East Thames region appropriate for the trainee's needs. This may be at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) but this is not guaranteed.
