The Division of Medical Molecular Biology at the Division of Oncology, Department of Clinical Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine conducts research on post-transcriptional regulation of prostate cancer progression. Currently, the group focuses on epitranscriptomic regulation of prostate cancer metastases. The research group is led by Dr. Yvonne Ceder. It is an international team consisting of research, administrative, and technical staff. The research group is now seeking a highly motivated doctoral student with a background in molecular biology for a full-time position (100%) starting on 1 September 2026 (or by agreement).

The project focuses on studying RNA editing as a biomarker for prostate cancer progression. The aim is to determine whether RNA-editing enzymes or epitranscriptomics can be used diagnostically and therapeutically. The work includes experimental in vitro studies as well as data analysis. The doctoral student will collaborate with other researchers and clinicians and must therefore have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in larger collaborative settings.

Meritorious qualifications include scientific ambition and experience conducting high-quality research in a research-intensive environment. Significant emphasis will be placed on the ability to independently plan and carry out research work, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience collaborating with researchers both within and outside one's own field is considered an asset, as is documented research competence with a relevant research profile, experience, and expertise.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research, and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
Fixed-term employment of four years in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 7. Desired start date is 1 September 2026, or by agreement.
