The Cambronne lab has a funded position for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in cancer cell metabolism and blood cancers. Ideal candidates will have experience in genetic mouse models, cytometry, cell culture, and metabolic analyses. The project uniquely provides the researcher with the first-chance characterization of novel animal models and use of novel metabolic genetically encoded biosensors. The researcher will further benefit from collaborative mentorship with researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Responsibilities include leading and conducting primary research, working with the PI to establish project goals, setting and adhering to project timelines, performing research, maintaining detailed records, preparing figures and manuscripts, establishing new protocols, collaborating with colleagues relating to lab work, and providing guidance/assistance on related projects to other lab members. The researcher should also stay abreast with primary literature and new discoveries in the field and present research progress within the group and as needed to broader audiences.
Requires a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field. The PhD degree must have been received within the past three years. Prior expertise in molecular and cell biology or biochemistry is essential.
Preferred skills include critical thinking; creative problem solving; strong organizational habits; a solid work ethic; highly self-motivated and conscientious. Able to follow-through projects till completion and the ability to work with other co-workers committed to high standards. Experience with studying cancer cell metabolism in blood cancers using genetic mouse models, cytometry, and cell culture is preferred.
