We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral neuroscientist to join the Sharott Group at the MRC Centre of Excellence in Restorative Neural Dynamics and the Brain Network Dynamics Unit, University of Oxford. This full-time, fixed-term position is funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) and will start on 1 June 2026.
The postholder will contribute to an exciting international, multi-centre research programme investigating the neural mechanisms underlying sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances in Parkinson's disease. Using state-of-the-art approaches, the successful candidate will design, execute, analyse and report electrophysiological, photometric and behavioral experiments in rodent models, with a particular emphasis on closed-loop stimulation strategies to restore normative neural dynamics. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in Oxford and with collaborators across the ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN), an international, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional network working to address high-priority research questions about Parkinson's disease, supported by ASAP, in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF). The role offers excellent opportunities to develop new technical and analytical skills, contribute to high-impact publications, and engage in collaborative translational research spanning preclinical and clinical contexts.
Applicants should hold (or have submitted) a PhD in a relevant discipline and have experience in the recording and analysis of electrophysiology and/or optical monitoring of neural activity, and behavioural monitoring in rodents. Experience of sleep research is desirable. Based on Mansfield Road, Oxford, this post offers access to the outstanding research environment of the University of Oxford.
For informal enquiries, please contact Prof. Andrew Sharott (andrew.sharott@bndu.ox.ac.uk).
The post is full time, fixed term until May 31st 2029 in the first instance. Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 29th May 2026 will be considered. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
