Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Officer – Minerals Processing Full-time

Research Position in Minerals Processing

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to contribute to high-impact, industry-aligned research in minerals processing within the School of Chemical Engineering. Working as part of a collaborative and inquisitive research team, you will play a key role in advancing applied research outcomes while building meaningful industry relationships that support future career progression and research translation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Research: Establish and contribute to a research program in minerals processing, with a strong focus on froth flotation and mineral analysis. Collaborate with academic colleagues and industry partners, apply best-practice research methodologies, contribute to publications, and support the delivery of funded research projects.
• Teaching: Contribute to teaching activities within the School in the capacity of a research-focused academic. This involvement provides opportunities for professional development in teaching and learning.
• Supervision and Researcher Development: Support the supervision and mentoring of higher degree by research students and contribute to a positive research training environment that encourages professional growth and capability development.
• Citizenship and Service: Engage constructively within the School and broader University community through collegial collaboration, contribution to research culture, and alignment with UQ's values and strategic objectives.

You will bring a strong foundation in minerals processing research, coupled with the motivation to build industry-engaged academic capability. You will demonstrate:

• Completion, or near completion, of a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Minerals Processing, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated research experience in froth flotation and mineral analysis.
• Ability to contribute effectively to applied, project-based research within a collaborative academic environment.
• Emerging track record, or clear potential, for peer-reviewed publications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and experimental skills.
• Capacity to engage with industry stakeholders and contribute to relationship-building activities.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collegially within a multidisciplinary team.
• Some experience in working with compressed gas and high-pressure setup would be highly regarded.
