The Clark Lab in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging at UCLA seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join a funded, three-year research program investigating nucleotide metabolism in autoimmune disease, with a focus on PET molecular imaging and therapeutic studies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, deep knowledge of immunology and metabolism, and hands-on expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology. The candidate should be able to work both independently and collaboratively and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology and the Crump Institute offer a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art technologies that enable innovative, cross-disciplinary research.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will lead and contribute to collaborative studies investigating the role of nucleotide metabolism in autoimmune disease, including molecular, cellular, and in vivo approaches.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae (CV), and contact information for three references to Dr. Peter M Clark at pclark@mednet.ucla.edu.
Basic qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field, with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
Additional qualifications:
A superior academic performance and publication record. Strong proficiency in core biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively. Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity for independent, self-directed research. Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices for working with biohazards and radiation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong work ethic. Highly motivated, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with animal models of autoimmunity is highly desirable. Prior experience in immunology is highly desirable. Experience with PET molecular imaging techniques is a plus. In accordance with UCLA policy limiting postdoctoral training to five years, candidates with less than two years of prior postdoctoral experience are preferred.
