Professor of Epidemiology with Focus on Cardiovascular Diseases

A permanent position as Professor of Epidemiology with focus on cardiovascular diseases. The position is located at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö and is closely linked to the Strategic Research Area EpiHealth (SRA EpiHealth), led by Lund University in collaboration with Uppsala University.

The duties primarily involve research but also include teaching and participation in management duties at the Faculty of Medicine.

Lund University is well-positioned for epidemiological research thanks to its long-term commitment to SRA EpiHealth (Epidemiology for Health) as a strategic research area for national and international excellence in epidemiology. In addition, Lund University has access to several large research databases with extensive phenotyping data and biobank samples, such as the Malmö Diet and Cancer Study, the Malmö Offspring Study, the Malmö Preventive Medicine Study, Men Born 1914, Healthy Ageing in Skåne (GÅS), the EpiHealth cohort and the Swedish Cardiopulmonary BioImage Study (SCAPIS).

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research at a very high national and international level in the field of epidemiology with focus on cardiovascular diseases. The position is intended to strengthen and develop strategically important research in cardiovascular epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.

Teaching and course development at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level is also an important part of the position.

The successful candidate is expected to be prepared to assume the role of research team leader at IKVM. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to take on other responsibilities normally associated with a professorship, such as administrative tasks, as well as internal and external elected positions. The professor will represent the field nationally and internationally, contribute to the development of excellence within SRA EpiHealth and engage with society at large.
