Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions in which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine focuses on the use of modified biomolecules, cells and cell products as novel therapeutic agents and the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnosis. Currently, Assistant Professor Joel Nordin's research group is looking for a research assistant.
As a research assistant, you will work on the development of new therapies for prostate cancer. Most of the research will be conducted using cell lines. The overall goal is to develop protein conjugates and cell-based therapies for prostate cancer.
In this project, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) will be used as delivery systems to engineer immune cells. Lipid nanoparticles are being explored as delivery tools for in vivo engineering due to their abilities to carry nucleic acids and enable targeted delivery. Protein conjugates can be used for the specific targeting and delivery of functional groups such as oligonucleotides.
Current cell-based therapies are limited by the need to manipulate with ex vivo, production times and costs. New therapies offering a targeted approach at different levels (protein and RNA) could offer significant advantages in prostate cancer therapies.
The applicant should have a solid background in cellular biology. The position requires practical experience in the following areas: cloning, lentivirus production, transduction, mammalian cell culture, primary T cell isolation, and flow cytometry.
It is considered an advantage if the applicant has experience in the field of extracellular vesicles and cell-based immunotherapies. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a medical background. Further experience in isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles will also be of merit.
Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English is important. We are looking for an energetic and passionate person who fits in and actively contributes to our team.
