We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Dr Herzog at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of epigenomics research. You will play a central role in developing and optimising protocols for nucleic acid extraction for existing and novel technical approaches, including single-cell and long-read methodologies, to study ageing of diverse tissues. Your work will have an impact in shaping how these approaches are implemented within the team, working closely with Dr Herzog as well as internal and external collaborators.
We are a friendly and supportive team, and we welcome candidates who enjoy technical challenges, take pride in careful and creative science, and are keen to grow and develop within an ambitious research programme.
The post is full-time but applications are welcome from those who would like to work flexibly.
An ideal candidate will have a degree in a biological science, experience with DNA and/or RNA extraction from tissues as well as with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR). You should have excellent organisational and record keeping skills, be able to prioritise and manage own workload and drive projects forward within agreed plans, as well as have strong written and oral communication skills.
We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
Please ensure that you upload a covering letter and a CV in the Upload section of the online application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.
The closing date for applications is 21 June 2026.
The interview date for the role is 03 July 2026 and/or 06 July 2026.
Please quote reference PS49757 on your application and in any correspondence about this vacancy.
