We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically skilled full-time Research Assistant to join Dr. Meng Zhu's lab located at the Gurdon Institute, University Of Cambridge.
The lab is interested in understanding the development of limb, and the developmental reversal of the jellyfish system, and how environmental factors, genetics, and cellular regulators facilitate these processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the group leader to support the establishment and day-to-day running of the laboratory, assist with research activities across the group (such as by maintaining essential equipment, maintaining and building databases, ensuring that safe working practices are followed, negotiating with supplier's representatives and monitoring lab expenditure), and contribute to building a collaborative and efficient research environment. The Zhu lab will work on mice and human tissues, as well as the jellyfish system.
The successful candidate will assist with mice colony maintenance as well as jellyfish culture. The research laboratory technician may also undertake an independent project if highly motivated.
This is an exceptional opportunity to gain substantial experimental and research experience in a newly established laboratory, develop leadership and organizational skills, and work across multiple model systems at the interface of cell biology, developmental biology, regeneration, and ageing.
