Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common bacterial infection in children, accounting for 5–14% of paediatric emergency visits. There is therefore the need for research to determine whether shorter antibiotic courses can safely improve antimicrobial stewardship without increasing treatment failure or relapse. This trial was therefore conducted to determine the shortest safe and effective course of antibiotics (cefalexin) for children with febrile UTIs.
