Research Fellow in Eating Disorders Epidemiology

This position will be embedded within the Eating Disorders Clinical Research Network (EDCRN), a major UK-wide collaboration led by King's College London that is transforming eating disorder research through the establishment of the UK's first standardised national clinical dataset. The postholder will also work with data from the UK Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative (EDGI UK), the UK's largest ever research study of eating disorders. Working across UCL and King's College London, the postholder will lead the linkage of EDCRN and EDGI UK data with publicly available environmental datasets (e.g. Ordnance Survey) and develop innovative statistical approaches to investigate environmental determinants of eating disorders.

This is a fixed term contract with external funding until 29th October 2027 in the first instance. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent on award and confirmation of a PhD (or equivalent). If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B, point 25 (salary £38,607 per annum inclusive of London allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role. This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.

You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, genetics, psychology, data science or another relevant quantitative discipline, together with experience analysing large complex health datasets using R, Python or similar statistical software. You will have strong quantitative and analytical skills, experience of data linkage and advanced statistical analyses, excellent communication and collaborative skills, and an interest in eating disorders or mental health research. Experience working with EDGI UK, EDCRN or comparable datasets would be advantageous.
