The role entails working at the UCL Hawkes Institute, leading UCL's involvement in the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) funded ACCESS-AD project, which aims to ensure that scientific advances in Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and treatment can be delivered across diverse healthcare settings.
The postholder will coordinate across the UCL Hawkes Institute and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology to facilitate local and Europe-wide activities that contribute to the goals of ACCESS-AD.
The scientific focus of the role will on predictive modelling for Alzheimer's disease, to deliver robust prognostic models using multi-modal data (e.g., imaging, fluid biomarkers, clinical assessments).
This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff. The role is funded until 31st December 2027 in the first instance.
The role requires a PhD in Computer Science, Neuroscience, or a related quantitative discipline, together with experience working with large-scale multimodal biomedical datasets. The successful candidate will have expertise in predictive modelling and data analysis using advanced statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods, supported by proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar. They will have a strong track record of research achievement, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national or international conferences, and experience of working effectively within interdisciplinary research environments. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse scientific audiences and international collaborators. The role also requires strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage research activities, coordinate with project partners, and contribute effectively to collaborative research programmes.
