School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the founding schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on a culture of excellence, the school is renowned for its high academic standards and research. With over 3,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students it is one of the largest EEE schools in the world and ranks 4th in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subjects.
Today, the school has become one of the world's largest engineering schools that nurtures competent engineers and researchers. Each year, the school graduates over a thousand students who are ready to take on great ambitions and challenges.
Within NTU EEE, Assistant Professor Dawei Qiu leads research on electricity market design, power system economics, flexibility coordination, energy storage, integrated energy systems, and AI-enabled decision-making for low-carbon transitions. His research develops analytical, computational, optimisation, simulation, and data-driven methods to support secure, reliable, affordable, and sustainable power systems under deep decarbonisation, increasing renewable uncertainty, and the growing participation of distributed and flexible resources. His current research focuses on next-generation market, coordination, and decision-support mechanisms for future low-carbon power systems, with Singapore serving as a strategic testbed for import-dependent, low-inertia, and highly flexible power grids.
We are seeking four talented and highly motivated Research Fellows to contribute to a research programme on market design for future low-carbon power systems. The roles will support the development of next-generation electricity market, coordination, and decision-support frameworks that can jointly address energy adequacy, system stability, carbon objectives, flexibility provision, and heterogeneous resource participation. The Research Fellows will work on topics including market clearing and pricing mechanisms, flexibility and storage coordination, distributed energy resource (DER) aggregation, strategic interactions among market participants, AI-enabled market simulation, and the integration of market design with power system planning and operation. Through analytical modelling, optimisation, simulation, and data-driven methods, the positions will contribute to the development of reliable, affordable, resilient, and sustainable energy systems, supporting NTU's mission in sustainability, digital innovation, and future energy transition.
