Research Laboratory Manager

The Schuman Lab is now recruiting an enthusiastic Research Laboratory Manager with a passion for neuronal cell biology and an understanding of the necessary groundwork required in managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a fast-paced, collaborative laboratory, able to keep it orderly and well organized.

You will oversee all operations for the newly established research group in conjunction with the Principal Investigator (PI) and lab members. The position integrates research, laboratory management and administrative responsibilities. You will also have the opportunity to conduct independent research projects to the extent that you desire in consultation with the PI, as well as provide technical and experimental support for several projects ongoing in the Schuman lab.

The post is available from January 2027 and funded for two years in the first instance.

About You

You'll have a PhD in Molecular-Cellular Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related discipline, and prior experience of working in experimental laboratory research, working with neurons, biochemistry, molecular biology, and histology assays, and of managing transgenic mouse lines.

You'll have strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, the ability to act on your own initiative, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
