Research Technician

We are seeking a motivated Research Technician to support preclinical cancer studies, with a primary focus on in vivo mouse models, particularly orthotopic glioblastoma.

In this role, you will:

• Carry out regulated animal procedures, including tumour implantation, monitoring, dosing, and tissue collection in line with legislation and approved protocols.
• Support a range of in vivo studies, including subcutaneous and orthotopic tumour models (e.g. lung and colon).
• Assist with stereotactic procedures and contribute to tumour monitoring and welfare assessments.
• Undertake sample processing, tissue preparation, and basic laboratory workflows.
• Support day-to-day laboratory operations, including record-keeping, stock maintenance, and organisation of workflows
• Work collaboratively with researchers, students, and technicians to ensure the smooth running of the lab

This is a full-time position funded initially for two years, with the possibility of extension.

You are an organised and reliable individual with strong technical expertise and a passion for research.

Essential requirements:

• Degree in a biological science (or equivalent experience).
• Hands-on experience working with mice in a research setting, including tissue handling.
• Knowledge of animal welfare regulations and regulated procedures, with excellent record-keeping skills.
• A Home Office Personal Licence.
• Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently, follow protocols carefully, and manage competing priorities.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of cancer biology or immunology.
• Experience in murine surgery, particularly stereotactic brain procedures.
• Experience working with human tissue samples and understanding relevant regulatory frameworks.
