This post is within the Institute Immunology and Immunotherapy funded for a period of 12 months (0.5 FTE) supporting Dr Matthew Pugh's research group developing a multiplex immunohistochemistry panel for clinical diagnosis. The role will focus on the development of a control protocol to ensure all the markers in the panel are working, and will involve cell culture and basic molecular pathology. There will be an opportunity to learn some basic histological techniques alongside the cell culture work. The work is funded by Cancer Research Horizons.
You will provide technical expertise, support and guidance in research support. You may supervise a number of technical staff but even where you do not directly supervise staff you will still be expected to act as a role model and coach others as appropriate.
You will need an in-depth understanding of the techniques and experimental protocols. You will be able to use your in-depth knowledge to advise on procedures, diagnose and resolve problems, and proactively suggest solutions to issues which arise. You may need to operate out of normal working hours to accommodate experimental procedures.
