Sr. Scientist – Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Proteomics

Amgen is seeking a hands-on bioinformatician to develop computational tools and data infrastructure to support the Discovery Proteomics Group. The successful candidate will combine strong scientific expertise in proteomics, bioinformatics, and drug discovery with software engineering skills to understand experimental and discovery needs and translate them into fit-for-purpose computational solutions. In this vital role, they will conduct statistical analysis, data ingestion, database and tool development, and computational pipeline implementation for proteomics data to support biomarker discovery, target evaluation, experimental design, and mechanism-of-action studies. The successful candidate will join the Discovery Proteomics group at our South San Francisco campus.
Key Responsibilities
This role will enable Amgen's preclinical pipeline through the delivery of innovative technologies and technical expertise. Responsibilities will include the development and implementation of data analysis, management, and visualization strategies for complex datasets generated by mass spectrometry and other technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with scientists from different functions and therapeutic areas, deliver and present analysis results to key stakeholders, collaborate across both genomic and proteomic platforms for data integration and mining, and utilize available external resources where appropriate.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
