The Department of Biomedicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Tenure Track Assistant Professor per 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a full-time position with a view to permanent employment as an associate professor.
We are looking for scientists with a strong medical research background who see opportunities for collaboration with the established research groups at Aarhus University, Aarhus University Hospital and leading international institutions.
The Department of Biomedicine provides research-based teaching of the highest quality and is responsible for a large part of the medical degree programme. The department employs approx. 600 people from all over the world, and they make use of the department's modern laboratory-, core- and animal facilities. The Department of Biomedicine focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship.

You will report to the Head of Department Thomas G. Jensen.
You have established independent research qualifications at a high international level. You are a clear communicator with documented experience in supervision and teaching at Bachelor's and Master's degree level and demonstrated potential for research leadership. We will place emphasis on completed pedagogical training in supervision or similar, as well as experience in developing PhD courses and establishing external research collaborations. We will also place emphasis on research experience gained through employment or an extended research stay at an internationally recognised research institution.
As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English. International applicants are expected to learn Danish, and Aarhus University arranges Danish teaching.

The tenure track position starts out with appointment as assistant professor with a view to permanent employment as an associated professor.
Permanent tenure as an associate professor is conditional upon you being assessed as qualified as such no later than 6 months before the expected transition to associate professor at the latest. In order to be assessed as qualified for an associate professor position, you must meet these academic criteria.
You will be appointed a supervisor by Head of Department and evaluation meetings will take place at least every half year.
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. For an applicant to qualify for a tenure track position, these academic criteria must be met in addition to the requirements described in the job advertisement.
