The design and development of complex electronic systems is expected to undergo a paradigm shift driven by artificial intelligence in the near future. Rapidly increasing system complexities, domain-specific requirements, and new integration and security constraints demand AI-driven methods for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) as well as EDA techniques for AI systems. At KIT, Division II with its Institute of Technical Informatics (ITEC) and the KIT-Department of Informatics address these strategically important issues —soon also in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg Graduate Center “Applied Artificial Intelligence (ConnAIx)”— and on this basis is establishing a new professorship.
Governance: With the tenure-track professorship, you will assume leadership of an organizational unit at the Institute of Computer Engineering (ITEC).
Ideally, you already have some teaching and supervision experience and a high level of motivation for pedagogical development.
Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 51 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges) as well as the Quality Assurance Concept for Junior Professorships and Tenure-Track Professorships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Salary is determined by the statutory provisions of the state of Baden-Württemberg and corresponds to the basic salary of pay grade W1 (civil service pay scale). In addition, allowances may be awarded. Where applicable, a family allowance is paid in accordance with civil service regulations.
The position is for six years, either as a fixed-term civil service appointment (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit) or as an employment contract; an interim evaluation will take place before the end of the third year.
For both the interim and final evaluations, KIT places particular importance on your ability to establish collaborations during your tenure-track professorship and to demonstrate initial implementation successes in software and/or hardware.
The evaluation process and the general evaluation criteria follow the Quality assurance concept for junior professorships and tenure-track professorships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) . Of particular importance for the midterm and final evaluations are the following discipline-specific priorities … (listing of subject-specific focal areas that are relevant for the evaluation).
