Postdoctoral Position in Bacterial Membrane Biology and Protein Biochemistry

A postdoctoral position is available to study the mechanisms of bacterial phospholipid biosynthesis and homeostasis in the Center for Membrane Biology, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UTHealth Houston.
The project will employ a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach, integrating biochemistry, microbiology, advanced imaging, and structural biology to investigate membrane protein–protein interactions and their regulatory mechanisms within phospholipid synthesis networks.
Our laboratory has a strong track record in membrane protein and lipid research, with publications in leading journals, including a recent paper in Science Advances (2026, in press).
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated scientist with:
- A recent Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Microbiology, or a related field
- Strong expertise in protein biochemistry and molecular biology techniques
- Experience with membrane proteins and lipid biochemistry is a plus

Salary
Salary will follow NIH guidelines and will be commensurate with experience. The position is funded by a new NIH grant for 5 years.
