A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Sabari, in the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences (a department-level autonomous research center focused on gene regulation) at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study phase separation and nuclear condensates in gene control. Nuclear condensates are dynamic local concentrations of protein and RNA often found associated with specific genomic loci. Our laboratory has several exciting projects related to investigating (1) the role of protein disorder in establishing condensates necessary for cellular differentiation and their dysregulation in disease, (2) how nuclear condensates spatiotemporally coordinate genome architecture and transcription, and (3) the role of DNA sequence and chromatin state in establishing condensates.
Postdoctoral scholars will have many opportunities to learn and build upon the latest methods in chromatin, epigenetic, transcription, and condensate research. We use various approaches, including high-resolution confocal microscopy, CRISPR-engineered cell models, proteomics, nucleic acid and protein biochemistry, and epigenomics.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and must have an established record of research productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications. Experience in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, and/or structural biology is recommended. Candidates with experience in confocal microscopy and/or epigenomics analysis are encouraged to apply.
