Histology Technician

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Histology Technician to join the Pathology Translational Technology Platform (TTP). As part of a small, collaborative team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality histology services to researchers across UCL, supporting projects that advance our understanding of cancer and contribute to the development of new diagnostics and therapies.

In this varied role, you will undertake tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy, staining, slide scanning and tissue microarray construction, while contributing to laboratory operations, data management and quality assurance activities. You will also have the opportunity to develop expertise in emerging molecular pathology techniques, including immunohistochemistry, nucleic acid extraction and technologies supporting spatial transcriptomics.

Interviews will take place in person at the UCL Cancer Institute in London between 14th-18th September.

You will hold a BSc in Biomedical Science or a related discipline and have experience working within a research laboratory environment. You will bring substantial hands-on experience in microtomy and cryotomy, alongside strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and record-keeping.

The successful candidate will be an effective communicator who enjoys working as part of a busy team, can manage competing priorities, and is motivated to provide an excellent service to researchers and facility users. You will be confident using databases and spreadsheets to manage samples and data, and eager to develop your skills across histology, molecular pathology and digital pathology technologies.
