Quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) using Cryo EM is challenging due to heterogenous samples, lack of training data and sample variability. In this project we aim to develop AI/ML workflows for improved quantitative analysis of LNPs. Your responsibilities will include optimisation of data collection parameters for automated analysis pipelines; developing, optimising and implementing AI/ML workflows and validating analysis using physico chemical approaches. The research will be in close collaboration with experimental LNP PhD / PostDoc projects in the Barriga Lab and with M. Carroni at the Cryo EM facility SciLifeLab. Other responsibilities may include teaching, supervision and contributions to collaborative projects / grant writing.
The Barriga lab are a multidisciplinary group combining biology, physics and chemistry to advance our understanding of biological processes with a specific focus on structure – function relationships in lipid systems for drug delivery (predominantly lipid nanoparticles). The group has extensive expertise using large scale research infrastructures to study lipid systems and couples these to biological assays.
The group is part of the Division of NanoBiotechnology within the Department of Protein Science and we are located at SciLifeLab in Solna.
