You are invited to apply to join Professor Lars Fugger and his team at the University of Oxford, based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital. Our research team, along with our local and international collaborators, aims to design tools for faster diagnosis, accurate prognosis, and to identify new targets for life-changing and life-saving treatments for patients with autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system. We collaborate closely with a wide range of scientists and clinicians both locally and internationally.
As a Clinical Research Fellow you will oversee research projects that will require you to identify and consent suitable candidates for our research aims, assign patients to clinical categories based on features of disease and treatment, assist with statistical analysis and with interpretation of laboratory data in a clinical context (correlating laboratory findings with clinical aspects of disease). There will also be scope for the candidate to pursue other projects within this field.
Applicants must hold a medical degree and full General Medical Council registration and a D.Phil/PhD in immunology or neurology. Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and a Specialist Registrar Grade or Certificate of Completion of Training are desirable. The role will also require an honorary contract with Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust, under the supervision of Professor Jacqueline Palace.
The successful candidate is expected to be highly skilled in managing and handling clinical research projects. Please see the job description attached for essential and desirable criteria.
It is advisable to contact Professor Lars Fugger prior to making a formal application in order to discuss the role. If you would like to discuss your application informally before applying, please email Professor Fugger (lars.fugger@ndcn.ox.ac.uk).
The post is part time (16 hours per week), available from 1st August 2026 fixed until 31st July 2027. Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 17th June 2026 will be considered. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
