Postdoctoral Researcher in Implementation, Equity & Trust

The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master's programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The position is based in the research group IMPAQT (Implementation and Quality), specifically the TRUST Team (Herzig van Wees). The aim of this team is to generate knowledge on generating evidence and practical solutions that strengthen trust in healthcare systems and public health interventions to improve equity and health outcomes. Our team works on interventions to improve confidence in HPV and MMR vaccination and works on a range of public health interventions that specifically address the needs of underserved groups in Sweden and globally.

Your Mission

The successful candidate will work on a range of projects related to trust in public health interventions and health systems in both Sweden and low- and middle-income settings. A key part of the role is to contribute to the development of new research ideas in this area and to secure external funding through grant applications. This includes leading their own early-career grant applications as well as supporting wider grant development within the team. We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual who is also a strong team player and enjoys working collaboratively. The candidate is also expected to engage actively in departmental life, for example through doctoral supervision, teaching, attending and organising seminars, and contributing to administrative responsibilities.

This is a full-time position for 2 years with 100% extent, with possibility of extension.

Your Profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

You must have:

• PhD in a relevant field such as Public Health, Global Health, Social Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated research experience in topics related to trust in public health interventions, health systems, or health behaviour in Sweden and/or low- and middle-income settings.
• Strong track record, relative to career stage, of scientific publications.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to competitive research grant applications.
• Experience with quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research, specifically implementation trial research with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

The following criteria are meritorious:

• Experience of working and living in a low- and middle-income setting.
• Demonstratable experience of having obtained grants (within academia or development sector).
• Excellent knowledge of Swedish, both written and spoken as well as excellent knowledge of other languages such as Somali, Arabic.
• Experience of teaching at undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate levels.
