We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Computational Chemistry to join Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI) at the Centre for Medicines Discovery. The postholder will support early-stage drug discovery programmes aimed at identifying and developing novel therapeutics for people living with dementia, working within a multidisciplinary team of medicinal chemists, biochemists, cell biologists and other researchers.
You will be responsible for applying computational chemistry, chemoinformatics and machine learning approaches to drug discovery, including molecular modelling, virtual screening, molecular dynamics and structure-activity relationship analysis. The role also involves developing computational workflows, supporting research data systems, maintaining reproducible research records and communicating scientific progress to multidisciplinary project teams.
It is essential that you hold a Bachelor's degree in computational chemistry, chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical physics, mathematics or a related discipline. Practical experience with computational drug design tools, chemoinformatics and scientific programming is required, alongside familiarity with machine learning and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with Linux/HPC environments, machine learning libraries, databases, generative chemistry or drug discovery research would be advantageous.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
