We are seeking a technical research assistant for projects in clinical neuroscience that employ advanced technical methods to study brain function using magnetic resonance imaging. This position provides an opportunity to gain valuable research experience within an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of technology, neuroscience, and clinical research.
As a research assistant, you will play a role in research projects investigating the neural mechanisms underlying psychiatric treatment in depression, with a particular focus on neural variability in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Your responsibilities will include advanced processing and analysis of fMRI data, as well as the development and implementation of analysis pipelines examining brain activity in relation to treatment effects.
You will work closely with the research group and participate in analysis projects linked to clinical treatment studies in psychiatry. The work includes the use of methods such as Partial Least Squares (PLS), multivariate statistics, and analyses of neural signal variability. Programming and method development will primarily be carried out in MATLAB. In this role, you will also be expected to contribute to scientific writing, including manuscript preparation, compilation of results, and the development of scientific publications together with the research group. In addition, you will participate in the collection of new MRI data.
We are looking for someone who is meticulous and solution-oriented, with a strong interest in research. You have excellent computer skills. Experience in processing and analysing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data is required, and experience with manual denoising using independent component analysis is considered particularly meritorious.
It is also a requirement that you have documented training to work in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research environment. You should have documented experience in processing fMRI data, particularly expertise in distinguishing signal from noise. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required.
