Animal venom peptides represent a vast library of bioactive compounds for biomedical applications and the development of novel therapies. Some venom peptides mimic prey hormones and signal through prey receptors to influence their physiology. In this project investigate the function of a hormone-like venom peptide from predatory marine cone snails. The main focus of the work will be to establish a cellular assay for EGFR activation by the venom peptide as well as application of immunofluorescence microscopy to assess the localization of the exogenously expressed EGFR. In addition, the work will likely entail protein expression and purification of the venom peptide.
The position will also include lab course teaching and mentoring of students.
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
