Division of Fundamental Mathematical Science, RIKEN Center for Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences (Division Director: Satoshi Iso)
RIKEN Center for Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences (iTHEMS) is an international research center at RIKEN. It facilitates close collaborations among researchers from different disciplines in theoretical, mathematical and computational sciences. The ultimate goal of iTHEMS is to unravel the mystery of the Universe, matter, and life, as well as to solve key problems in modern society through interdisciplinary approaches.
The RIKEN Pioneering Project “Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Information” (Lead researcher: Yasuyuki Kawahigashi, iTHEMS) has recently launched with iTHEMS serving as the hub. This project integrates three fields: mathematics related to quantum theory (in the broad sense), such as operator algebra theory; quantum physics, including quantum gravity and topological matter; and quantum information theory, including quantum error-correcting codes and quantum resource theory to advance research on the mathematical foundations of quantum information in collaboration with researchers both within and outside RIKEN.
Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher, a few positions
* The applicant will be assigned to an appropriate position based on his/her ability, aptitude, etc.
This call for applications seeks to recruit researchers to join the Division of Fundamental Mathematical Science. Successful candidates will conduct research on quantum information in collaboration with one of the laboratories listed below (and may hold concurrent appointments as necessary). The “Mathematical Foundation of Quantum Information” project aims to elucidate the fundamental structure of quantum information under noise and to construct a unified language that bridges mathematics, physics, and information theory.
The laboratories currently participating in this project are listed below.
If you wish to apply, please first contact at least one of the laboratories to discuss your research content. (Please refer to the contact information at the bottom of this page.)
The job description may be changed during the contract period or upon contract renewal to the extent described above.
