The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) is a leading international hub for state-of-the-art AI research. Centered around three core research groups, the Mathematical Intelligence Group, the Domain Intelligence Group, and the Physical Intelligence Group, AIP is dedicated to establishing the mathematical foundations of trustworthy AI, advancing AI technologies integrated with diverse scientific domains, and developing embodied intelligence for the real world.
The Chemical Reaction Informatics Team develops machine learning methods for the design and discovery of chemical reactions, which are dynamic, nonequilibrium processes that transform one substance into another. This field offers new technical challenges for machine learning and enables their validation through real world chemistry.
Conduct machine learning research on chemical reaction prediction, particularly the modeling and prediction of transition states, as well as the analysis and development of machine learning algorithms for the design and discovery of novel chemical reactions.
Must have a Ph.D. or expect to receive a Ph.D. before the date of employment in machine learning, computer science, statistics or a related field. Be an expert in machine-learning-related research. The candidate should have a strong motivation to deeply understand real-world chemistry problems as well as the theory and practice of quantum chemistry (Prior experience at the time of application is not required). Must be proactive, cooperative, flexible, and able to respond according to the circumstances. Must also have good communication skills and be able to cooperate with the relevant personnel within/outside of the laboratory to fulfill the tasks.
RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project, Kashiwanoha Campus Station Satellite of The University of Tokyo (178-4-4 Wakashiba, Kashiwa, Chiba). RIKEN may order the employee to change work locations, if necessary.
Salary will be an annual salary based on experience, ability, and performance, and will consist of a base salary and a variable salary. The variable salary will be determined each fiscal year based on experience, ability, and performance. Discretionary work, commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will be applied.
Eligible to apply for the MEXT Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Kakenhi). RIKEN is actively undertaking initiatives to promote gender equality and diversity, and moving forward with the establishment of a diverse and vibrant research environment. If multiple candidates are found to have the same aptitude following a fair assessment, active efforts will be made to recruit female candidates.
