Bioinformatician / Postdoctoral Fellow
Computational 3D Genome Biology at USC Full-time
The Fudenberg group at the University of Southern California (USC) has long-term funding to support multiple postdoctoral fellows to develop computational approaches to identify and answer fundamental questions in 3D genome biology.
Potential projects can involve biophysical simulations, machine learning, or both. We are excited to develop new approaches for: sequence-based design of DNA folding, discovery of new 3D genome folding regulators, and probing mechanisms of chromosome folding. Numerous opportunities are available for collaboration with experimental groups.
Our group is part of the Quantitative and Computational Biology Department at USC, which hosts an incredible range of computational biology research all on one floor (https://www.qcb-dornsife.usc.edu/). USC is in the center of Los Angeles (https://dornsifecms.usc.edu/life-in-la/) and is surrounded by opportunities to enjoy art, music, culture, food, and nature.
We currently collaborate with researchers with backgrounds ranging from theoretical physics, to computer science, to chromatin biology, and welcome researchers excited by interdisciplinary science. For more information, see https://fudenberg.team/.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Biology, Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or demonstration of a similarly strong quantitative and computational skillset
- Pevious research experience with any of genomic data, biophysical modelling, or soft-matter physics is a bonus but not required.
- Commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully with a multidisciplinary team.
