We are seeking two highly motivated Clinical Research Fellows to lead the delivery of a major phase II clinical trial at the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR). The OCMR is a world-renowned centre for cardiac MRI research and is part of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford. The OCMR provides a vibrant and dynamic environment for researchers and clinicians, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary team approach to cardiovascular research and clinical practice.
In addition to holding primary responsibility for trial delivery, as Clinical Research Fellow, you will also have the opportunity to participate actively in the clinical cardiac MRI service at OCMR – contributing to diagnostic imaging sessions, MDT meetings and provisional reporting alongside clinical and consultant colleagues. Research responsibilities will include patient identification and recruitment, advanced imaging activities, trial data collection and analysis, supporting recruitment, consent and follow-up, maintaining accurate trial records, ensuring full adherence to ICH-GCP and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
This opportunity would be particularly suitable for resident doctors aspiring to a career in cardiology who are seeking to develop substantive academic research expertise in cardiovascular medicine, including sub-specialty experience in cardiac MRI.
The ideal candidate will hold a primary medical qualification and demonstrate evidence of exceptionally high academic potential and strong motivation for a career in academic clinical medicine; prior research experience is essential, and peer-reviewed publications, prizes, conference presentations or competitive research awards will be looked on favourably.
This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract to 31st May 2029. The Fellows will be based at the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR), John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford OX3 9DU. We are seeking candidates who are ideally available to start as soon as possible to support the commencement of the clinical trial.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online via the University website; you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement which explains how you meet the selection criteria for the post. Only applications received before midday on May 26th 2026 can be considered. Interviews are scheduled to take place in June 2026, with the date to be confirmed.
For informal queries about the post please contact Professor Andrew Lewis or Professor Oliver Rider.
